Petit Pois variety
A recent improvement of the traditional petit pois variety ‘Waverex’. Blunt pods containing 9-10 delicious very small peas per pod are borne 3-4 pods per node. Excellent disease resistance for a later pea. A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups.
Sow & Grow
Outdoors, March-June where they are to crop, in flat drills 15cm (6″) wide and 5cm (2″) deep, in well-cultivated, fertile soil. Sow in a zig-zag fashion along the drill, allowing 5cm (2″) between seeds. Fill the drill with fine soil and firm down gently. Allow 60cm (2′) between rows. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 10-18 days. Harvest: May-September.
Hints & Tips
Protect seedlings from birds with twigs or bird scarers. Water well during dry spells. Ideal for deep freezing.
Care & Cultivation
Early sowings benefit from frost protection. Stick or twigs, placed either side of the row for support, will make picking easier. Water well until plants are established. Successional sowings will ensure a continuous supply and long harvest. Pick regularly for the best yields.
